Elegantly Creamy Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting

This Frosting is Chocolate with a hint of orange with the richness of cream cheese! My neighbor loves it so much that she stirs a heaping tablespoon in a glass of milk.
- Mixing Bowl
- 5 Tbsp Unsalted Butter (Softened not melted)
- 5 Tbsp Cream Cheese (Softened)
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Pure Vanilla Extract
- 3 Tbsp Heavy Whipping Cream
- Dash Salt
- 1/3 cup 100% Chocolate Cocoa Powder (Sifted)
- 3 cups Powdered Sugar (Sifted)
- 2 Tbsp Freshly squeezed orange (I use the juice from one of the following oranges, Mandarin, Tangelo, or Cuties. These have a nice flavor of orange)
- Sift together the Powdered Sugar, Cocoa Powder and set aside.
- Add the Cream Cheese and the Unsalted Butter to a bowl and set aside to soften.
- Once the cake has cooled for 50 minutes you are ready to mix the frosting.
- Blend the Cream Cheese and Butter until it is smooth.
- I use the hand mixer to blend the Cream Cheese and Butter.
- Add the Vanilla, and Heavy Whipping Cream into the bowl with the Butter and Cream Cheese. Mix it in.
- You will be incorporating the dry ingredients only 1/2 cup at a time. I usually fold this in with the butter cream cheese using a spoon so it doesn't spatter.
- Add the orange juice and finish by using the hand mixer for the final blend.
- Ice the cake and you're ready to enjoy!
I make this frosting to compliment the flavor of my recipe for Moist Eggless Chocolate Cake.
