The doctor will have a few questions about your reaction in order to assist you in determining if you have an egg allergy or other type of allergy. Below are a few things your doctor may need to know.
- Have you ever had a reaction before
- When was your first reaction?
- Do these reactions occur each time you eat eggs or a product with eggs as an ingredient?
- What are your symptoms? Did they start out mild and get worse?
- How severe are your symptoms? Did you go to the hospital first?
- How soon did the symptoms start after consuming the eggs?
- How long did the symptoms last?
- Do the symptoms occur frequently?
- Have you taken any over the counter antihistamines for the reaction or other medications? Did it help?
- Have you kept a list or diary of the foods that give you these reactions.
- List all your medications and the dosage. Some medications cause inflammation. Inflammation can make your symptoms worse. Discuss them with your doctor incase he/she wants to make a change.
- Has anyone in your family had any allergic reactions to eggs or any other food allergies?
- Have you ever had any rashes or allergic reactions to a Flu Shot or Tetanus Shot?
- Do you have any allergic reactions to any other medications?
- Have you ever been allergy tested?
- Does anyone if your family have a history of allergies?
- Are any family members allergic to eggs or other foods that you are aware of?
