Avoid Foods That Contain Eggs or Any of These Ingredients
- Albumin (also spelled Albumen)
- Apo vitellin
- Avidin globulin
- Bakery items – breads, some bagels have egg, if there is a shiny top could have been brushed by egg
- Coffees from Coffee shops that have a foam
- Cookies and cakes – (note: I have a wonderful recipe for you to enjoy)
- Egg (dried, powdered, solids, white, yolks)
- Eggnog – Just because it says egg in the item doesn’t mean it has egg in it. Exception: eggplant!
- Lysozyme
- Mayonnaise – very important to ask waiters/waitresses if this is in the food
- Meringue (or powdered meringue also)
- Pasta – ask the waiter/waitress if in the restaurant, if you are cooking boxed pasta check the box)
- Pretzels
- Salad dressings – Olive Garden’s original salad dressing has eggs as one of the ingredients. Simply request olive oil, vinegar, romano cheese, and a little garlic and you can make your own.
- Some restaurants use the same spoon to add ketchup or mustard to a sandwich. If the Bread is a Brioche or other bread made with eggs you can get cross contamination! This has happened to me when a fast-food restaurant made a change from using squirt bottles to a shared spoon/spatula. I ended up in the hospital with an anaphylactic reaction!
